Look Out Utah...

...here we come! I am so incredibly excited for our trip to Utah that I am going to post about it before we leave.

Here's The Plan.

We're leaving here early in the morning on Friday the 21st and driving to Iowa City where we'll stay with Matt and Meghan for a night. Saturday we're driving to Broomfield, CO where we'll stay with Matt and Erin. The plan is to spend Sunday with them as well, to recover from spending 11 hours and 13 minutes in the car. Then Monday, it's off to Utah. According to google maps, the trip is 1,756 miles or 1 day and 2 hours.

While we're in Utah we are going to try to squeeze in as much as possible.

hanging out with mom, grandma, and grandpa
gallivanting in the desert
hiking in the mountains (or even just staring at the mountains)
biking up the canyons (we even bought a bike rack!)
running the Top of Utah half marathon
celebrating our 4th anniversary
climbing
visiting the Tracy Aviary
enjoying the dry, humidity free, air
introducing Abby to all our favorite Utahns
celebrating my 30th (EEK!) birthday

Did I miss anything?

On the way back we are taking a slightly different route so that we can reunite Jack with his mom. We're leaving on the 4th of September and staying with Matt and Erin in Broomfield again, and then going all the way to St. Louis on the 5th (a whopping 12 hours and 41 minutes in the car) where we will meet Olivia for as much fun can be had in a short overnight stay. Finally, on Sunday the 6th we will head back to the humid, flat, lands of Michigan. According to google maps, the return trip is 1,892 miles or 1 day 4 hours.

Did I mention how excited I am for this trip?

P.S. For any of you reading this that have had experience driving long distances with a high energy 6 month old--any tips on keeping Abby happy and ourselves sane?

Wahoo! and good luck with the car ride. Bummed I can't help you out with the climbing, biking, hiking goals but I can sit and stare at a mountain with the best of them!

Wow, you posted a map :) Very cute. I'm glad you'll have a fun trip, but I'm sad I'll be missing your birthday :( We will have to have an Ann Arbor celebration when everyone is back!

I'll pray that Abby will take really long naps. :) Wish I could be there.
